North Claymont Master Plan

The North Claymont area has a mix of industrial, commercial, and residential sites and is located north and east of the Claymont Hometown Overlay District. Much of the area is currently underutilized and presents a significant opportunity for economic development given its access to a variety of transportation options.

New Castle County partnered with WILMAPCO to co-manage this study, which comprises an area that is currently underutilized and presents a significant opportunity for economic development given its access to a variety of transportation options. Notably, the study proposes relocation of an existing commuter rail station, as well as new streets to serve the station and other potential development. Other participants include Claymont Renaissance Development Corporation, the Delaware Office of State Planning Coordination, DelDOT, Delaware Transit Corporation, DNREC and the Delaware Economic Development Office. The Final Report was issued in January 2017 and is available on WILMAPCO’s North Claymont Area Master Plan webpage.
