Who is responsible for paying the youth?
NCC pays the youth, at no cost to you. Your business will benefit from having highly motivated youth in your workplace while providing them with a crucial career-building opportunity.
How many hours can the youth work and how much are they paid?
Each youth has the opportunity to work 20-25 hours a week during the summer program and 10-15 hours per week during the school year program, earning the current New Castle County employee minimum wage of $12.50 per hour.
Is there a screening process to ensure the youth are ready for work?
NCC YWDP staff work to place youth in areas that align with their career goals. Additionally, NCC YWDP provides all of its participants with training and orientation prior to placement with a worksite.
