Pottery Studio

The Art Studio is home to a large and active pottery community. We have classes for potters of all levels. Learn everything from hand building and wheel throwing to glazing and firing techniques. Our amazing instructors and studio assistants are on hand to guide and inspire you. The Pottery Studio has 16 wheels and an area for hand building. We have various kilns including high-fire, low-fire and Raku.

Ten 3-hour classes, $240R/$250NR,

Ten 3-hour classes. Learn hand-building, throwing on the potter’s wheel and glazing. All levels. Additional $60 glazing and firing fee. Clay is not included in the class cost or material fee and is available for purchase from the studio. Tools may also be purchased in class at an additional cost. Ages 18+
PLEASE NOTE: There will ONLY BE LOW FIRING AVAILABLE. Due to outdoor construction, we will not have the ability to high fire or raku fire this session.

BEGINNING WHEEL THROWING
Instructor: Bridgette Zack 
Mon | 6-8:30pm | 1/22-2/26
Six 2½-hour classes. $120R/$126NR. Learn the skills necessary to throw cylinders, cups and bowls in an exciting and encouraging environment. Step by step instruction. Additional $30 materials fee due to instructor. Ages 18+

HAND-BUILDING CERAMIC WORKSHOPS
One 2-hour class, $45R/$50NR. First, build a functional pottery piece using introductory hand building techniques like slab rolling and pinching. Then, learn to decorate your piece using glazes, stamps and other decorative tools. Pieces may be glazed and fired by the instructor. Participants will be notified when pieces are ready to be picked up. Materials are included in the cost of class. Ages 18+

INTRO TO CLAYPRINTING
Instructor: Meredith Wakefield

One 5-hour class. $55R/$60NR. Ready to experience something completely different? Learn how Mitch Lyons' unique printmaking process changed the way clay can be used. You will be working from a slab of clay, adding layers of colored clay slips, pastels, textures, and imagery. From this the monoprints will be pulled. Even if you’ve never worked with clay or know nothing about printmaking, you’ll be excited to learn how to pull your very own clay monoprints. All levels welcome. Additional $30 material fee. Ages 18+
Student supply list (optional): apron, cottage cheese / yogurt plastic containers for slip, any textures or stencils, etc. you would like to use.

CLAY WITH FRIENDS
Instructor: Bridgette Zack 
Sat | 1-2:30pm | 1/20
One 1½-hour class. $40R/$45NR. Spend the afternoon with friends and loved ones and create your own wheel thrown bowl. Learn the basics of the potter’s wheel while spending quality time together. Everyone will complete a wheel-thrown bowl from start to finish with our skilled instructor there to guide you. After the student has created their piece, the instructor will mark glaze color choice. Because pieces will need to be fired, participants will be notified when pieces are ready to be picked up. Ages 18+
