Jester Park is a 31-acre open space located off Grubb Road, just south of the Naaman’s Road intersection. New Castle County is currently exploring options for further development of this park.

Recent Project Updates:

Spring 2023:  Project construction underway.  Eastern States Construction will be on site working through the spring to install the pathways. Landscaping will be planted during the spring and fall.  The meadow areas will be established over the coming growing seasons.

November 21, 2022: Strobert Tree Services will be at Jester Park starting Tuesday, November 22 to conduct tree and understory brush removals and initial invasive plant treatment in limited areas around the park.  This work is being done in advance of the first phases of pathway construction, which will be scheduled soon. Additionally, this spring, once pathway and other site work is substantially completed, landscaping will be planted around the park.

September 21, 2022: Tree trimming is scheduled to occur on Thursday and Friday, September 22 & 23. Demolition work will begin the week of September 26 and continue into the week of October 3.

September 8, 2022: The asbestos abatement contractor, County Environmental Company Inc., will begin work on the Jester Park farm complex structures starting Friday, September 9. Once asbestos removal is complete, the demolition contractor will finalize the Demolition Permit and schedule their work. Notice of this work will be provided.

August 2022: New Castle County Public Works – Parks Division is currently obtaining a Demolition Permit from the New Castle County Department of Land Use to begin the process of demolishing the Farm Complex buildings.  Further information on the timing of demolition work will be posted soon on this webpage.

April 6, 2022: Friday, April 8, Reybold will be on site to remove the concrete apron to the old asphalt driveway. The expected schedule for the day is as follows:

  • They will arrive at 7 AM to adjust the head of the fire hydrant.  This work will take approx. 2 hours.
  • Demo work will begin around 9 AM and should be done by 11 AM
    • They will attempt to complete the work without closing any lanes of Grubb Road.  Worst case scenario, one lane may be closed temporarily.
  • From 11-1PM, they will bring in topsoil and seed the area.
  • All work should be done by 2 PM.
