Newark Free Library Capital Project

I am excited to share that New Castle County will soon be entering the design phase for the new and improved Newark Free Library. We know that libraries offer more than books. They are cornerstones of our communities; the programs and services offered by our libraries promote learning, foster innovation, and encourage connection. To ensure that the upcoming new Newark Free Library serves the diverse needs of our residents, we would like to invite you to share your thoughts.

Between September 5 and September 30, 2023, you can fill out a community survey. To complete the survey, please visit:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Draft_NFL_Comm_Survey

The County will also host two public engagement meetings in September where you can share your thoughts directly with the architectural firm Quinn Evans. These meetings will be held on:

Thursday, September 14
Time: 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Location: Newark Senior Center - Evergreen Room ABC
Address: 200 White Chapel Drive, Newark, DE 19713

Saturday, September 16
Time: 10:30 am - 12:00 pm
Location: Aetna Hose Hook & Ladder Banquet Hall
Address: 400 Ogletown Rd., Newark, DE 19711

Participation in the survey and/or attending these public meetings will enable us to identify the strengths and deficiencies of the current library while also providing insight into what you would like to see in the new building. Your answers will help us build a library that reflects and meets the needs of the Newark community.

With warm regards,

County Executive Matthew Meyer
