FAQ

What should I wear?

Please make sure to dress for the weather as this event is fully outdoors! We recommend you wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. Layers are also important as the weather is typically chilly in the morning, warms up during the day, and cools back down again in the evening.

What if it’s raining?

The event will be held rain or shine, except for severe weather conditions. Information regarding the status of the event will be available on the Events Hotline 302-395-5659 by 7:00 a.m.  If there is a threat of severe weather, please call the Events Hotline.

Who can I contact if I have any questions during my shift?

If you have questions or a problem during the event, please call Annalie Mergenthaler at 302-757-5182. If there is an emergency, please call 911.

What happens if I am late?

We understand that traffic and other circumstances may cause volunteers to be late, but we ask that volunteers plan ahead so they can be on time. We ask that volunteers try to arrive 5 minutes prior to their shift start time to allow time for parking and check-in.

  • Volunteers who arrive after their shift has started may be asked to wait until additional volunteers arrive.
  • Volunteers who arrive 30 minutes or more after the start of the shift may be given a different task than what they signed up for.

Will there be food?

Food vendors will be available for you to purchase food on site. Feel free to bring your own snacks/meals and drinks if you would like.

Can I walk around the event after I volunteer?

Yes! Please enjoy the festivities after your volunteer hours are completed.

Can I get a signed letter for work/school with my volunteer hours?

Yes! All volunteers can receive a signed letter of verification for their volunteer hours at Sleep Under the Stars once their time has been completed.

Can my younger sibling volunteer with me?

All volunteers must be at least 14 years old to volunteer. All minor volunteers (under the age of 18) MUST bring a signed copy of the volunteer waiver form with them or they will not be allowed to volunteer.
