Bear Library opened in 1998 and immediately became the busiest library in the state of Delaware. It re-opened its doors in January 2013 after undergoing a multimillion-dollar, state-of-the-art renovation.
As the unofficial town center for the Bear community, our 25,000 square foot facility provides more than 135,000 items for loan including audio, video, magazines, e-books, databases, and print books. Additionally we offer library programs for all ages and interests, including ESL and GED programs, public access computers, study rooms, and meeting spaces for nonprofit community groups and organizations.
