Biography
John has lived in Delaware since 1971. He attended St. Mark's High School and received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delaware in 1983. His wife is Dr. Lindsey Slater, a physician with Nephrology Associates. They live in the Holly Oak community in Eastern Brandywine Hundred.

Policy Positions
I. Land Use
- Promote redevelopment of blighted, underutilized and vacant properties – greyfields and brownfields.
- Promote sustainable communities with pedestrian friendly compact design and an integrated use of office and residential that is ready for mass transit.
II. Infrastructure
- Advocate aggressive spending to rebuild the County’s sewer infrastructure to protect the environment and public health and to create the sewer capacity opportunity for economic growth.
III. County Finances
- Promote responsible and open management of government finances so as to ensure a fiscally sustainable County, public transparency, and continue to provide necessary services at a modest cost.
- Protect the County’s AAA bond rating ensuring the lowest borrowings costs to the public.
IV. Public Safety
- Promote the return of proactive community policing through the use of targeted patrols of troubled communities throughout the County.
- Promote the development of Public Safety Assessments Districts and the enhancement proactive community policing.
V. County Governance
- Promote open, cooperative, competent and respectful county governance to serve the public.
