County Executive Tom Gordon is pleased to recognize October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the State of Delaware and throughout the United States of America.
“Not only during the month of October, but throughout the year, must we seize upon any available opportunity to spread awareness about this deadly disease. We shall continue to stress the importance of seeking early treatment, if necessary, and offer support whenever possible,” County Executive Gordon said.
“Many of us have visited the doctor about a lump or growth that caused us to fear hearing the ‘C word,’ that is, cancer. I have another word I’d like people to think about: and that is courage,” County Executive Gordon continued. “We should all have the courage to visit our doctor regularly to keep our health in check. Let us continue to encourage our mothers, wives, sisters and friends to get regular check-ups, as well.”
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is held every October. For more information or to donate to the cause, visit such sites as www.debreastcancer.org, ww5.komen.org or www.breastcancercampaign.org.
