A coalition of organizations is hosting an opportunity fair Friday, Jan. 29, not only to accept applications from individuals and subcontractors, but also to provide services to help jobseekers with resume-writing and other pre-employment skills.
Set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., this will be the first “Route 9 Innovation Center Career & Subcontractor Opportunity Fair.” The event will be held at Rose Hill Community Center at 19 Lambsons Lane near New Castle.
Sponsors and supporters include the New Castle Prevention Coalition, Simonds Gardens Civic Association, New Castle County, EDiS Company, Rose Hill Community Center and Interfaith Community Housing of Delaware.
The fair will highlight a variety of opportunities in connection with New Castle County’s new Route 9 Innovation Center, now under construction in the 3000 block of New Castle Ave. near New Castle.
Friday’s event “is largely about subcontractors,” said Mike Freda, a vice president with EDiS.
Individuals will be able to apply for some subcontracting work, Freda said, and various subcontractors will be able to apply for work at the Innovation Center and/or other potential New Castle County construction projects.
