County Executive Thomas P. Gordon recently administered the Oath of Office for the Library Advisory Board to Judith Taggart.
“Judy Taggart’s experience and leadership in both the private and public sector make her a perfect fit for the New Castle County Library Advisory Board,” Gordon said.
Taggart, of Newark, has an extensive résumé that includes time served on the AARP Delaware Executive Council, the Delaware Commission for Women, the League of Women Voters of New Castle County, Friends of the Newark Free Library and a five-year term as a Reading Assist tutor. She retired as chief executive officer for Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay in Newark. Prior to that, she was executive director of the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware and executive director of YMCA of Anne Arundel County Inc.
She is currently a member of the Newark Senior Center Board of Directors, public policy chair for the Newark chapter of the American Association of University Women and a voter service committee member for the League of Women Voters of New Castle County.
Taggart received a Master of Science in human resource management from Wilmington University and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo.
The Library Advisory Board is a panel made up of county residents and library friends groups responsible for advising the county library manager, recommending programs concerning local library needs and implementation of an effective county library system.
Gordon thanked Chief of Staff Samuel L. Guy, Esq. for scheduling a series of recent swearing in ceremonies for the county’s boards and commissions.
