Due to inclement weather, County Executive Thomas P. Gordon has canceled today's Dancing in the Park/Food Truck Festival at Glasgow Park for the safety of all involved.
County Executive Gordon expresses his regrets, particularly since there is no rain date for this event.
Gordon made his decision after the morning briefing given to him on the park’s conditions by Acting Special Services General Manager J. Wayne Merritt. Special Services is the county’s public works and parks department. Community Services General Manager Sophia Hanson and staff were on the grounds optimistically preparing to run today’s event.
Once the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, N.J.’s forecast called for rain, thunder and lightning this afternoon and evening it was an easy decision, Gordon said.
The event, held in conjunction with the Dizzy Feet Foundation’s National Dance Day, drew 10,000 people last year to Glasgow Park, one of the most popular parks in the state of Delaware.
