New Castle County Police said today they have charged a driver in a recent hit-and-run collision that injured a 12-year-old boy.
Marsha Williams, 55, turned herself in Tuesday evening and was charged with leaving the scene of a collision resulting in injury and failure to report a collision resulting in injury, Officer First Class JP Piser said.
Police were called to the neighborhood of Overview Gardens about 5:40 p.m. on Dec. 5 for the hit-and-run crash that injured the boy as he tried to cross Memorial Drive, Piser said. Detectives' investigation determined the vehicle had fled toward DuPont Highway (U.S. 13), he said.
The boy was hospitalized with numerous broken bones.
Police appealed for public help in identifying the driver, issuing a description of the vehicle, posting video and offering a reward of up to $20,000.
Following her surrender to police, Piser said, Williams was released on her own recognizance.
