[ARCHIVED] Police seek tips about fatal shooting in Garfield Park

County police investigating a fatal shooting Tuesday night in Garfield Park are asking for .

About 7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, a report of shots fired sent patrol officers to the first block of Karlyn Drive in the Garfield Park development.

There, Officer JP Piser said, the officers found 53-year-old Lonnie M. Dixon suffering multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Piser said.

Detectives are investigating his death as a homicide.

Noting they will release additional information as it becomes available, police said they encourage anyone with information to call New Castle County Police at (302) 573-2800, submit tips at or via the force's Facebook page. Information also may be given to Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) TIP-3333 or using the New Castle County Police Department smartphone app, which is free to download for all iPhone and Android smartphones.

Rewards of up to $20,000 are available for information leading to an arrest and/or conviction in any violent crime under county police investigation.
