New Castle County Government Center closed due to snow
New Castle County Government will be closed on Friday due to snowfall of up to 6 to 8 inches by the time the winter storm is over in a few hours.
New Castle County Chief Administrative Officer David Grimaldi said non-essential personnel would stay home and essential would report to work as scheduled.
County officials made the decision to close down most operations save for essential personnel after the State of Delaware decided to close its offices due to the inclement weather.
A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for NCC from 6 PM Thursday until 1 PM Friday. Snow along with areas of blowing and drifting snow, accumulations between 6 to 8 inches by the time the snowfall is done. Winds 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
Temperatures have drastically fallen to the 20s and teens and will stay below breezing through Saturday. Freezing of melted snow or water spray along the coast will occur and be a hazard.
