County Executive Announces “County in Your Community” Work Days

Starting April 25 in Wilmington, county leaders will work from locations throughout New Castle County, meet with community members

New Castle, DE
– As part of his administration’s effort to increase transparency, responsiveness and accessibility in County government County Executive Matthew Meyer today announced that he and members of his leadership team will work from locations across New Castle County throughout the spring, summer and beyond. During “County in Your Community” work days, Meyer and his senior staff will meet with local residents, government and civic leaders and business owners and entrepreneurs to provide updates on progress in bringing fiscal responsibility to county government, review new initiatives and facilitate conversations about how county government can leverage its resources to better serve families and their communities.

The first “County in Your Community” work day will take place next Tuesday, April 25th in Wilmington. There, the County Executive will meet with the local start-up community and hold a roundtable discussion with entrepreneurs at the co-working space The Mill. Later that afternoon, from 4 – 6 pm, Meyer will meet one-on-one with residents in the County Executive’s Wilmington office on the 8th floor of the Louis L. Redding City/County Building at 800 N. French Street. Any resident can reserve their time for a brief meeting with the County Executive between 4 and 6 pm by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. Note: Please provide your name, preferred meeting time, and contact phone number in your e-mail message. Individual meetings with the County Executive will also be available without reservation on a first-come first-served basis.

"Every resident should have access to their county government and that’s why we will bring county leadership to communities across New Castle County in the months to come,” said County Executive Matthew Meyer. “We will take these opportunities to share our progress in improving county government and update members of the community on the challenges we continue to work through in building a county government that is effective, efficient and transparent. I invite all residents of New Castle County to visit with me while we are in their neighborhood and share their ideas and concerns.”

Tuesday’s launch of “County in Your Community” work days will be followed by a visit to the Middletown Business Incubator and Collaborative Workspace on Tuesday, May 16. Future locations include:

  • Wednesday, May 31 in Hockessin
  • Tuesday, June 6 in Newark
  • Tuesday, June 20 in the Brandywine Hundred/Claymont area
  • Thursday, July 13 in the Bear/Glasgow area

More details about upcoming visits will be announced in the coming weeks and additional “County in Your Community” work days will be scheduled in the months ahead.
