[ARCHIVED] County Executive to hold May “County in Your Community” work days in Middletown and Hockessin

Residents can schedule individual meetings with the County Executive by sending e-mail to [email protected]

New Castle, DE – In an effort to improve transparency and accessibility in government, County Executive Matthew Meyer is continuing his “County in Your Community” work days with stops this month in Middletown on May 16 and Hockessin on May 31. These visits follow his first community work day last month in Wilmington where Meyer met with residents during office hours in his downtown Wilmington office and held individual visits and a roundtable discussion with local start-ups at the technology co-working space The Mill.

“Community work days help ensure that our County government is accessible in every part of New Castle County,” County Executive Meyer said. “We must engage directly and regularly with local residents, civic leaders, service providers and entrepreneurs as we work to build a county government that is transparent, efficient and responsive to all our people. I urge local residents to plan to stop in and meet with me this month in Middletown and Hockessin.”

Details for the May County in Your Community work days are as follows:

Tuesday, May 16 at the Middletown Business Incubator and Collaborative Workspace, 402 N Cass St., Middletown
Featuring community office hours with the County Executive from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm. Residents can reserve their individual meetings with the County Executive by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. During his visit to Middletown, Meyer will also meet with members of the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce and sit down with local businesses that work from the Business Incubator to engage in conversations about ways county government can positively impact job growth and economic development.

Wednesday, May 31 at the Hockessin Library, 1023 Valley Rd., Hockessin
Featuring community office hours with the County Executive from 5:30 – 7:00 pm. Residents can reserve their individual meetings with the County Executive by sending an e-mail to [email protected]. During his visit to Hockessin, Meyer will meet with Hockessin area entrepreneurs and with library stakeholders to understand their needs and concerns and explore ways county government can support educational and literacy initiatives.

Upcoming “County in Your Community” work days are planned for June 6 in Newark, June 20 in the Brandywine Hundred/Claymont area and July 13 in the Bear/Glasgow area, followed by additional locations in the coming months.
