New Castle, DE – Young football fans in grades 3-8 will enjoy the fun and excitement of America’s favorite sport this fall as New Castle County brings NFL Flag powered by USA Football to county area fields.

“Each year more than 12,000 people participate in our sports leagues and other athletics programs at county parks and recreational facilities,” said New Castle County Executive Matthew Meyer. “This latest partnership creates new opportunities for young football fans to play the sport they love while also helping them to learn the value of teamwork, build self-confidence and promote health and wellness.”

NFL FLAG powered by USA Football is the premier youth flag football program in the United States with more than 210,000 boys and girls in leagues across the country.

“Flag football gives young athletes an opportunity to develop physical skills, grow in confidence and play a sport they love,” New Castle County Sports and Athletics Administrator Andrew Bero said. “NFL FLAG and USA Football provide the resources we need to deliver the fun and high-quality experience that our coaches, players and parents deserve.”

Players in NFL FLAG powered by USA Football have fun while gaining the sport’s inherent benefits and of physical fitness. Players learn every position on the field as well as football fundamentals through USA Football’s advanced digital resources at www.USAFootball.com. Coaches in the program have free access to USA Football’s certified flag football coaching course, spanning topics from the sport’s fundamentals to concussion education. All NFL FLAG coaches and players receive free USA Football memberships, which include USA Football’s Drills Library featuring video of more than 150 drills to advance player safety.

“Kids benefit from playing NFL FLAG football in many ways,” said Samantha Rapoport, USA Football Director of Football Development. “They learn the fundamentals of the sport and compete with other players who love the game as much as they do. It’s great exercise. It’s fun. And kids get to wear their favorite NFL team’s jerseys while doing it.”
