Rainfall forces cancellation of this weekend’s Dancing in the Park and Food Truck Festival

Glasgow – New Castle County today announced that the annual Dancing in the Park and Food Truck Festival set for Saturday, July 29 is cancelled. It will not be rescheduled.

Forecasters are calling for significant amounts of rainfall in the area through Saturday. While a rain date had been set for July 30, the volume of expected precipitation will saturate unpaved areas of the park that are used for parking, dancing and food vending and those soggy conditions will persist for several days. As a result, county leaders today made the difficult but necessary decision to cancel the event in an effort to provide as much advanced notice to residents and vendors who planned to participate.

“To borrow from Shel Silverstein, 'So what if it drizzles and dribbles and drips? I'll splash in the garden. I'll dance on the roof,'” County Executive Matthew Meyer said. “We cannot dance this weekend at Glasgow Park, but please dance. Post your dancing videos to our Facebook page at @ncchappenings. Ain't no stopping us now.”
