Channel your childhood imagination at the Annual Faerie Festival this Sunday at Rockwood Park

Wilmington, DE – Kids of all ages and their families are invited to enjoy games, stories, enchanted crafts, costume parades, and children's museum tours at the 5th Annual New Castle County Faerie Festival, this Sunday, September 17. The event takes place from noon to 4:00 pm at Rockwood Park and Museum, 4651 Washington Street Extension, Wilmington. The day includes food trucks, merchants selling festive wares, and visits from special guests such as the Fairy Queen and other magical surprise guests! Free activities include face painting, bubbles, bounce house, art on the rocks, story time, museum tours for children, costume parades, crafts, and performances.

Cost is free. Last year’s Faerie Fest welcomed 6,000 children and families

“Faeries, pirates, gnomes, princesses, super heroes, knights and trolls are taking over Rockwood Park," County Executive Matt Meyer said. "Dress in your favorite costume. Channel your childhood imagination for a celebration of imagination, dance and play. You’re invited to the party!"

Children’s Tours of Rockwood Museum – Take a mini tour of the Rockwood Museum with costumed guides. Tours are tailored specifically for little ones.

Ballet Performances by Wilmington Ballet Academy of the Dance and Delaware Arts Conservatory

Faerie/Gnome Garden Competition – Design and Build a miniature garden!
- Create a Gnome Garden using natural materials. What kind of trees are in your Gnome garden? Is there a fish pond or a swing or lawn furniture? Delaware Children’s Museum Tinker Town
- Delaware Children’s Museum presents Tinker Town with the Imagination Playground and more!

Fierce Dance Studio – Trollabration and Costume Parades
- Fierce Dance Studio will be leading dance-a-long Trollabration to Can’t Stop the Feeling from the movie Trolls. Fierce will show you how to put you hair in the air and get electric wavy then they will lead the costume parades!

Delaware Children’s Theatre – “HONK!” sneak peak
- Delaware Children's Theatre will present a performance from their first show of the season Honk!, based on Hans Christian Andersen's The Ugly Duckling. Kids will enjoy the toe-tapping songs from this heartwarming musical about a lovable duck who doesn't quite fit in with his siblings. But soon learns to embrace being special and different. Fairytale characters from DCT's second show, Shrek, will also be on hand to round out the fun. Sign up at DCT's table to win tickets to the show.
