Delayed openings of county facilities to be posted on Facebook and county website
New Castle, DE – With forecasters calling for the season’s first snowfall across Delaware and the Mid-Atlantic region Saturday, New Castle County reminds residents that staff are preparing to clear parking lots and sidewalks at county facilities that serve the public. If snow falls as expected across the county Saturday members of the public should monitor the web and social media for updates on any delayed openings at county libraries, recreation centers, Rockwood Museum and county parks. Delayed openings will be posted on Facebook at www.facebook.com/nccde, www.facebook.com/ncclibraries and www.facebook.com/NCCHappenings and the County’s Department of Community Services website at http://nccde.org/252/Department-of-Community-Services.
County officials urged residents to follow these precautions:
- Take special care when traveling and walking through inclement weather, including roadways, parking lots and sidewalks
- Wear appropriate clothing, including footwear with treads
- If weekend snow requires plowing, parking lots and sidewalks at recreation centers and libraries will be cleared; however, pathways and trails at County Parks will not be cleared until Monday.
