NEW CASTLE, Del. -- County Executive Tom Gordon has determined that all New Castle County offices will open on time today. However, libraries are opening two hours late.
In addition, the County will have a liberal leave policy for the first two hours today to allow employees extra time should they need it.
County employees are urged to exercise caution and best judgment while driving to work, particularly on secondary and tertiary roads.
NCC operations had been closed on Thursday due to snow accumulations of 10 to 13 inches in northern Delaware. All non-essential personnel stayed home while essential personnel reported as regularly scheduled.
County Executive Gordon made the decision to close County offices shortly after 5 a.m. Thursday after consulting with aides who participated in the County conference call and the State Bridge call to assess conditions.
The Executive along with CAO David Grimaldi and Deputy CAO Jim McDonald participated in another County conference call and the State bridge call early Friday morning to assess updated weather conditions early Friday morning.
The National Weather Service in Mount Holly, N.J. forecasts sunny skies, with a high near 37, and a west wind 9 to 13 mph for Friday.
