In the Victorian era, collecting objects gained enormous popularity. The curio cabinet was found in most fashionable homes and showed off collections of natural specimens, oddities, travel souvenirs, antiquities and countless other curiosities. The Shipley/Bringhurst family had a collection of photographs, exotic furniture, intricate and highly decorative Bohemian Glass, and of course Edward’s trinkets from his travels.
