[ARCHIVED] Burglary Suspect Arrested

New Castle County Police have arrested Brandon Mason, a 24-year-old male from the unit block of Perpen Court in Newark, DE 19702. He has been charged with burglary and other related crimes after detectives linked him to the burglary of a home in the community of Simonds Gardens that occurred in February 2014.
(New Castle, DE 19720) On Monday, (2/24), at approximately 8:45 p.m., New Castle County Police responded to the unit block of Abbott Road (Simonds Gardens) for the report of a burglary. Officers arrived on scene and learned the victim arrived home at approximately 8:30 p.m. to find an unknown black male suspect inside her residence. The 44-year-old female victim confronted the suspect who then fled out the rear door.
Officers learned the suspect entered by damaging a rear window of the residence. The victim reported an electronic device taken from her residence. Assisting officers responded to the scene, which included a canine team to assist with the investigation.
The investigation led detectives to Mason who was linked to the burglary through evidence collected at the scene. On Tuesday, (3/4) at approximately 11:32 a.m., New Castle County Detectives took Mason into custody without incident.
Mason was charged with burglary in the second degree, theft under $1,500 and criminal mischief. He was arraigned and released on $11,000 unsecured bond and issued a no contact order.
