County Executive statement following visit with New Castle area veteran and his family

New Castle, DE – County Executive Matt Meyer issued the following statement after a visit this morning with a New Castle area veteran and his family:

“Last fall the New Castle Prevention Coalition and Home Depot Foundation joined together in an innovative partnership to help a deserving veteran by providing needed home repairs. The project was not completed in a timely fashion. This is unacceptable. I visited with the Phelps family this morning in their home for 40 minutes to take a look for myself. Organizations involved in this project also attended, and during the visit they committed to complete this project. Mr. Phelps expressed satisfaction that individuals had come together to address his family’s needs and confidence in the process to complete the needed repairs. We are grateful for Mr. Phelps’ 40 years of selfless service to our country, and we will honor that service by staying in touch with him to ensure the promised repairs are
completed.”
