New Castle County Executive Thomas P. Gordon issued a Proclamation for the 2014 celebration of African American History Month celebrated each year in February.
"I encourage all New Castle County reisdents to join me in celebrating the collective ingenuity, creativity, cultures and traditions of African Americans and commit ourselves to raise awareness and appreciation of African American History ...," County Executive Gordon said in part.
The Executive also noted the importance of Black Americans in the history of New Castle County's economic, cultural, spiritual and political development.
