NEW CASTLE, Del., March 4, 2014 -- New Castle County Executive Tom Gordon has ordered the County to resume normal operating hours on Tuesday.
County Executive Gordon had decided to close County offices on Monday due to the National Weather Service and AccuWeather forecasts calling for anywhere from 6 to 12 inches of snow in most of the County.
Delaware Governor Jack Markell and Wilmington Mayor Dennis Williams also made the calls to close State and City offices, respectively, as well. The Governor had issued a State of Emergency and a Level 1 Driving warning in the State of Delaware as of midnight.
The Governor lifted the SOE and Level 1 Restriction by Monday afternoon. DELDOT Reporting crews continued operations into Monday evening for clearing roadways.
Major roads were in good condition by Monday night. Primaries were reported to be wet with some snow/ice spots and Secondary roads were passable or had some snow coverage. There are still going to be areas on secondary and back roads where icing will be prevalent given the temperatures overnight and into Tuesday morning.
NCC Special Services will have all County facilities ready for operation on Tuesday for normal time.
