Teaching Artist Call: Creative Art Saturday Instructor
Program: Creative Art Saturday presents an aspect of art to the public in an open, drop-in workshop. The program engages children and adults and introduces them to different art forms, mediums and topics. The instructor will plan and present a project each month and be there to help guide the participants. At the end of the workshop, participants get to take their piece of art home.
Schedule: We are currently looking for an instructor to run Creative Art Saturday at Appoquinimink Recreation Center on the 1st Saturday of every month. Creative Art Saturdays takes place year-round from 10am – 12pm.
$50 per hour including set-up and take down, maximum $150 per session. Instructors are responsible for supplying their own materials.
Teaching Artist Requested Skills:
- Design and implement a well-planned lesson
- Experience teaching art workshops to children, teens and adults
- Strong communication skills

The Art Studio is the art education facility of New Castle County, Department of Community Services. Located at Absalom Jones Community Center at 310 Kiamensi Road in Wilmington, Delaware, it is home to vibrant art programs. Students of all ages and abilities can learn techniques from pottery, weaving, drawing, painting and much more. Additional programs include the Kaleidoscope Program, for individuals with different abilities and Creative Art Saturdays for children and families. Our goal is to provide New Castle County residents with a broad variety of interesting, exciting and artistic classes and programs.
