New Castle, DE – New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer and Marcus Henry, General Manager of the Department of Community Services have announced public meeting dates for the 2020-2024 Consolidated Plan and the 2020 Annual Action Plan for New Castle County. The Consolidated Plan is a planning document that identifies the affordable housing and community development needs in New Castle County over the next five years.
Annually the county receives Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development (HUD). To continue receiving these funds, the county is required to identify and prioritize its needs and explain how it will address these needs through local projects.
“Safe, decent, affordable housing is a basic human right,” said County Executive Meyer. “These federal programs are critically important as they help us preserve and create affordable housing and support services to help the most vulnerable in our county.”
But New Castle County can’t do the plans by themselves.
“The success of the plan is dependent on New Castle County residents making their voices heard,” said Henry. “There are several ways to be involved in the plan, from attending community meetings to taking an online survey.”
