County Executive Meyer announces additional COVID-19 testing sites in New Castle County; adds resour

New Castle, DE – New Castle County, in partnership with the State of Delaware and the Delaware Emergency Management Agency, announced a third week of free COVID-19 testing sites for Wilmington, Claymont, New Castle, and Newark. The sites, along with others in Kent and Sussex Counties, will help reach Governor John Carney’s goal of testing 80,000 Delawareans per month for the novel coronavirus. Test locations were selected with input from a number of sources including doctors, epidemiologists, non-profits, faith based and community leaders.

The County will also be adding a resource fair to sites that have the size to accommodate the additional services. Those sites are Howard High School (Monday, June 15), Frawley Stadium (Friday, June 19), Seeds of Greatness Ministries (Saturday, June 20), and Frawley Stadium (Friday, June 26). Additional resources include the Food Bank of Delaware, Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County, United Way, 211, and more.

“We’re thankful for the community for coming out and getting tested,” County Executive Meyer said. “We’ve surpassed more than 5,000 test kits collected, and our neighbors know how important getting these tests are to the recovery of our communities.”

The tests, which were introduced to state public health officials by County Executive Meyer, are self-administered oral swabs (nothing up your nose), provided by Curative. Participants swab the inside of their mouth, drop the swab into the tube, and drop off the package on their way out of the parking lot. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes, and even less if subjects are pre-registered. Participants do not need to have symptoms to receive the test.

Test results are expected back to participants within 72 hours via email.

To pre-register for any of the testing sites in Delaware, guests can visit https://delaware.curativeinc.com/welcome. While registration is not mandatory, it will save you time in line.

The list of testing sites for the following week are below:
