New Castle, DE – New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer has announced that he is expanding the Little Free Library program to any homeowner or civic association in New Castle County. The expansion of the program will be paid for with federal CARES Act funding.
Little Free Library book-sharing boxes play an essential role in providing access to books, conveniently accessible in neighborhoods as library operations have been limited during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“COVID-19 has presented our county with unique challenges. This innovative countywide program will serve as a point of pride and excitement for adults and children in neighborhoods across our county during this crisis and for years into the future. Your neighborhood should take a few minutes and apply today.”
This past summer Councilwoman Dee Durham launched a pilot program in the Second District, in collaboration with the County Executive and Council President Hartley-Nagle, that resulted in more than 20 Little Free Libraries being distributed. This is a countywide expansion after the success of the pilot.
