[ARCHIVED] Unsolved Histories: Researching Old Properties in Delaware

Capture2

If you live in an old house or a historic area, you have probably wondered when it was built, what it looked like in the past, and who lived there before you. Maps, historic photos, property and vital records, and even the architectural details of the house and buildings themselves can provide important clues to help answer these questions, and more! You may learn how people lived in the past, how your community evolved, and how your property contributes to the understanding of your local history and culture. This workshop is suitable for property owners, researchers and historians, or anyone who wants to learn more about how to conduct historic property research in Delaware. This workshop will help you learn what sources of information are available, where to find them, and how you can use them to learn more about a historic property.

This workshop, sponsored by Preservation Delaware and led by Betsy Hatch, New Caste County's preservation planner, who is a well-respected researcher who works to coordinate many historic preservation projects by New Castle County departments, and county residents, through the land development and historic review process.
