On Friday, January 13, 2023, U.S. Senator Tom Carper, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), and Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester (both D-Del.) joined New Castle County Executive Matt Meyer and DNREC Secretary Shawn Garvin at the Christina River Force Main, the site of the county’s largest wastewater facility, to announce assistance for New Castle County’s infrastructure needs through the Water Resources Development Act of 2022 (WRDA 2022).
For the first time, WRDA 2022 authorizes environmental infrastructure programs in Delaware for each of its three counties to repair drinking water and wastewater systems, like the Christina River Force Main, and address stormwater management. WRDA 2022 was co-authored by Senator Carper signed into law on December 23, 2022, by President Biden.
