[ARCHIVED] New Castle County Department of Community Services presents Women On The Move event celebrates Women

New Castle, DE –New Castle County has announced the 2023 Women’s History Month celebration event with a focus on Great Women in History: Women On The Move, celebrating women in transportation, to take place on Saturday, March 4 from 11 am – 2 pm at the Route 9 Library and Innovation Center at 3022 New Castle Avenue, 19720. 

The event will feature a speaker’s panel and woman-owned merchants. history boards, a make-and-take craft, a performance, and information tables. Admission is free to the public.

We are excited to be presenting our Women On The Move panel featuring Secretary Nicole Majeski from the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT), Chief Angela Strong of the US Coast Guard, Jeanna Ashby from Norfolk Southern Railroad, and student and aviator, Chanel Riviere-Francis. The panel will take place at 12 p.m. in the library’s Black Box Theatre.

Other speakers will include Andrea Trabelsi and Joanne Arellano representing WTS - Advancing women, Advancing transportation and Earnie Harber, motorcycle riding instructor and a member of the Gold Wing Riders.

Girl Scouts of all levels who attend the event will earn a Women’s History Month fun patch while supplies last.

This is the 9th year for the Great Women in History Program. In 2023 the event welcomed over 200 guests.
