New Castle County Police have arrested Denzel Massengill, an 18-year-old male from the unit block of Mark Court (Waterford Trailer Park) in Bear.

(Bear, DE-19701) An investigation into a theft reported in September 2013 led officers from the New Castle County Police Department to the home of Denzel Massengill. Police were called to his residence in April 2014 after a relative discovered property that did not belong to him. The investigating officer then drafted warrants for Massengill arrest.

On Wednesday (5/7) New Castle County Police responded to the unit block of Lake Arrowhead Circle in Bear for nine (9) reports of thefts from motor vehicles. The investigation revealed an unknown suspect(s) entered the unsecured vehicles and removed electronics and loose change. Officers thoroughly processed and collected evidence from the scenes and submitted the evidence to the Evidence Detection Unit.

The evidence collected at the scenes linked Massengill to the crimes. Police also learned Massengill had attempted to steal a vehicle from the unit block of Woodcrest Court and stole a vehicle from the unit block of Valley Stream Circle.
On Wednesday (5/14), officers attempted to locate Massengill in the 200 block of Auckland Drive, but were unsuccessful. Moments later, officers located Massengill in the area of the unit block of Auckland Drive where he was taken into custody without incident.

Massengill has been charged with Burglary in the third degree (11 counts), receiving stolen property, attempted theft of a motor vehicle, theft of a motor vehicle, attempted theft under $1500 (7 counts) and theft under $1500 (6 counts).

Denzel Massengill was arraigned and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Facility in lieu of posting $55,000 secured bail and was issued a no contact order.
