County Executive Thomas P. Gordon and Chief Administrative Officer David Grimaldi proudly attended the New Castle County Department of Public Safety graduation and appointment ceremony held for Paramedics Thomas M. Castiglione, Bryan M. Florian, Anthony R. Federici, and David S. Katz Monday evening.
County Executive Gordon, Director of Public Safety Joseph Bryant, Jr., and Emergency Medical Services Chief Lawrence E. Tan presented the badges and certificates at the ceremony held at the Paul Sweeney Public Safety Building.
The New Castle County Emergency Medical Services Division Honor Guard/NCC Pipes and Drums conducted the Posting of Colors, and Paramedic Lt. Martha L. Russ sang a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem.
Senior Lieutenant Lou Rombach welcomed the crowd, and Emergency Medical Services Chaplain Captain Father John C. McVoy III gave a solemn invocation.
In brief remarks, County Executive Gordon told the graduates he was happy to have them as the County’s newest paramedics and wished them nothing but the best.
Thomas Castiglione served as the speaker for the honorees and reminisced about the hard work and rewards he and his fellow graduates experienced during training.
New Castle County's next Paramedic class, a group of 16, also attended the ceremony. This group still has about eight more months of training to undergo.
