About 160 New Castle County campers will be performing the National Dance Day beginners’ routine at the Wilmington Blue Rocks’ annual Camp Day game at Frawley Stadium on Monday, July 21 at 11:30 a.m.
The performance is to promote New Castle County’s 1st Annual Dancing in the Park event on July 26 at Glasgow Park. The campers will encourage the ballpark spectators to dance along.
“These campers have been enjoying a positive, constructive experience in our summer camps,” County Executive Tom Gordon said. “This performance at Frawley Stadium will definitely be a highlight for them.”
Dancing in the Park is presented in conjunction with National Dance Day 2014. New Castle County has embraced National Dance Day as a part of our Live Healthy New Castle County campaign with our partner, See You Outside Delaware.
On July 26, individuals and dance groups will learn the National Dance Day routine and then perform as a large group. The performance will be filmed. Dance along demonstrations will also be presented in Bollywood, Irish Dancing, Ballet, and Soul Line Dancing. After the dance, stay and rock the night away to a live concert by local rock band Edna’s Tribe.
The event is free for all, and both individuals and groups of all ages and abilities are encouraged to participate. Dancing in the Park is the only official National Dance Day event in Delaware.
