On Thursday evening County Executive Tom Gordon is scheduled to attend a Community Reception to celebrate the art created by local youth for the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials’ (NAHRO) “What Home Means to Me” competition.
Earlier this summer, New Castle County Department of Community Services partnered with the Edgemoor Revitalization Cooperative, Inc. to host a pizza party and art event to encourage local youth to participate in the art competition. Approximately 40 children attended the event. General Manager for Community Services, Sophia Hanson, stated that “This Youth Art Competition is about celebrating and empowering our youth.”
The reception, on Thursday, evening will showcase the artwork created at the event and will include remarks by Tom Gordon, County Council Member John Cartier and Sophia Hanson. The attendees will also be regaled with entertainment from the Twin Poets.
The art show and reception is scheduled for Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at the Edgemoor Resource Center Garden located at 41 S. Cannon Drive, Wilmington DE 19809.
