Dancing in the Park at Glasgow Park drew 2,000 youths Saturday for a picture-perfect evening of fun, dancing, and good music.
Youths and people enjoyed line dancing with Maria Cahill, the Dance Day "Everybody Dance" Beginner Routine instruction with Pieces of a Dream, Bollywood with Jhankaar Bollywood Dance, Ballet with Priscilla Payson, and, to finish things off, the band Edna's Tribe performing live.
Dancing in the Park was presented by New Castle County Executive Tom Gordon and the Department of Community Services in conjunction with National Dance Day 2014, an annual celebration launched by the Dizzy Feet Foundation in 2010 which “encourages Americans to embrace dance as a fun and positive way to maintain good health and combat obesity.”Also helping to make the event happen were Live Healthy, 93.7 WSTW, Delaware 87ers, Priscilla Payson Foundation, Maria Cahill, Jhankaar Bollwyood Dance, Gable Music Ventures, See You Outside, Pieces of a Dream, Girl Scout Troop 1043 and Girl Scout Troop 1275.
The dances were filmed by a few entities, including NCCTV. NCCTV is available on Comcast Channel 22 and Verizon Channel 29.
In one clip of note, the Pieces of a Dream dance instructor led the enthusiastic crowd in a performance of the Everybody Dance Beginner Routine. In the front were members of Fierce Dance Academy from New Castle and the Encore Dance Elite Competitive Team from Bear.
Video will be up on NCCTV soon.
