Thousands of people attended the New Castle County summer festival known as Family Fun Day at Carousel Park & Equestrian Center August 9.
County Executive Tom Gordon was pleased with the turnout.
"This is what Carousel is all about -- providing families with a beautiful place to visit," County Executive Gordon said.
Family Fun Day featured entertainment, music, games, fishing, and food. There was face painting and hayrides to the Kids Corral where 10 new baby animals have been born since May, including the donkey Rose’s foal and a pony. Several people attending Family Fun Day also enjoyed fishing in the Enchanted Lake.
There were also visits from the Brandywine Traveling Zoo, the Juggling Hoffmans, Jungle John and his reptiles, and featured demonstrations by the New Castle County Police Mounted Patrol and K9 units.
Family Fun Day will also included food vendors on site selling treats for the whole family. Among the other dignitaries at the event were State Rep. Mike Ramone and County Recorder of Deeds Mike Kozikowski.
