New Castle County’s “Great Schools Clean Streams” campaign is coming to a close! New Castle County residents have until Friday, April 19 to support their local schools by pledging to dispose of used cooking grease properly. The six New Castle County schools that collect the most pledges from their students’ parents will win cash prizes to pay for on-campus tree plantings, stream cleanups, rain barrels, and other cool and educational science projects. New Castle employees are welcome to participate if they are also county residents. To pledge, visit: http://www.GreatSchoolsCleanStreams.org This fun campaign is sponsored by the Department of Special Services. You might be surprised to learn that dumping cooking grease and oil down the sink is a leading cause of sewer blockages herein the county and nationwide. Special Services is expanding its outreach efforts to educate residents about what they can do to reduce this kind of pollution. Please pledge today and spread the word!
