New Castle County Police have arrested Joseph Arnold, an 18-year-old man from Newark and Kayla Ash, a 19-year-old female from Townsend, Del., and charged them with numerous burglaries and related offenses.
On Monday (8/25), New Castle County Police responded to the unit block of Glenrich Avenue in Richardson Park for a burglary. Officers learned the suspects entered the victims unsecured shed and removed various pieces of equipment. The suspects also attempted to enter the victim’s home through the basement, but were unsuccessful in their efforts.
The investigation revealed the suspects fled the area in a SUV.
Evidence collected from the scene which included surveillance video helped to link the duo to the crime. Upon further investigation, officers learned Arnold and Ash were responsible for additional burglaries to a home in the 100 block of Garwood Drive (Garwood Estates) in Newark.
Joseph Arnold has been charged with criminal mischief under $1000, three counts of theft under $1500, three counts of conspiracy in the second degree, burglary in the third degree, attempted burglary in the second degree and two counts of burglary in the second degree.
He was arraigned and committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in lieu of $17,500 cash bail.
Kayla Ash has been charged with criminal mischief under $1000, three counts of theft under $1500, three counts of conspiracy in the second degree, burglary in the third degree and two counts of burglary in the second degree and attempted burglary in the second degree.
She was arraigned and committed to Baylor Women's Correctional Institution in lieu of $30,100 secured bail.
