County Executive Tom Gordon attended the first ever Western Square Dance held at Carousel Park and Equestrian Center on Thursday night.
The inaugural event drew a modest crowd of 20, but organizers from the Department of Community Services were excited about how they could build on this event for the next square dance scheduled for the second Friday night in November.
The square dance featured music and a caller on hand to patter and sing dance combinations for an evening of fun for ages 18 and up. “Do Sa Do,” “Box the Gnat,” and “Slip the Clutch” were among the items played.
The next event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, November 14. Wear your comfortable walking shoes and dance outside under the stars in the beautiful Oasis Courtyard at Carousel. Dance styles will include Square Dance, Line Dance, and Circle Mixers.
This event is free.
