Holiday Open House at Rockwood Museum & Park for 2014 opened in magical style Friday night with beautiful Christmas lights, singing by the University of Delaware Children's Choir, music by the Mt. Pleasant High School Guitar Quartet and the Brass Quintet,and the Tree Lighting led by New Castle County Executive Thomas P. Gordon.
There were also free pictures with Santa Claus in the Rockwood mansion and dancing by Kathryn Ciminello’s Dance Troupe and Delaware Arts Conservatory's Snow Queen performance in the Carriage House next door to the Rockwood Museum. County Executive Tom Gordon and County Councilman John Cartier split the reading of "'Twas The Night Before Christmas" before a packed crowd of children and their parents within one of the stately rooms of the Rockwood mansion.
Also among those attending the Tree Lighting with County Executive Tom Gordon were Councilmen Cartier, Bob Weiner, and Joe Reda; State Rep. Charles Potter, whose district includes Rockwood; Community Services G.M. Sophia Hanson, whose department created and managed the event -- with help from Special Services ---, and Administrative Services G.M. Tonney Gardner.
Also present in the sizable crowd were Councilwoman Lisa Diller, Director of Communications Antonio M. Prado, and Executive Assistants Franklin Cooke, Steve Burg, and Josue Ortega.
