New Castle County Police patrolling county parks this past weekend arrested Isaias Cedillo in Delcastle Park Sunday and charged him with several drug offenses after officers observed him drinking alcohol near the popular soccer fields.
At 1:06 p.m. Sunday, police officers were conducting patrols in Delcastle Park when they observed Cedillo. He was detained and during a search of the subject, police discovered that he was in possession of a clear sandwich bag which contained a small amount of marijuana and a clear zip lock baggie that contained a small amount of crack cocaine.
NCC Police Senior Cpl. Joseph Rago and his canine partner “Dayan” then responded to assist the officers with a drug sniffing search that yielded a positive identification of a controlled, dangerous substance. Police then seized $400 of suspected drug money that was also on Cedillo’s person.
Cedillo, a 24-year-old male who resides in the unit block of Dutch Court in Elkton, Md., was subsequently charged with possession of marijuana, possession of crack cocaine and consuming alcohol within the parkland.
He was arraigned and released on $500 unsecured bail.
New Castle County Executive Thomas P. Gordon had received constituent complaints this past spring about drinking at County parks and directed the NCC Department of Public Safety to look into the matter.
Over this past weekend, members of C-Squad and assisting officers conducted undercover surveillance and uniform enforcement throughout Delcastle Recreational Park, Canby Park and Banning Park to address complaints of subjects drinking in the parkland and illegal gambling.
