Police Respond to Numerous Home Invasion Type Burglaries in the Past 10 Days

The New Castle County Police have responded to three home invasion type burglaries in different locations within New Castle County since May 22nd. County Police are seeking witnesses with any information on these cases.

On May 22nd, 2015 at approximately 2:28 am, New Castle County Police responded to the unit block of Paisley Street in the community of St. Andrews in Bear for a home invasion type burglary. The victim advised that he heard a knock on the door and opened it to find a subject yielding a knife.

The subject held the victim at bay with the knife and demanded money. The victim and his roommate were able to fight off the victim before he fled the residence on foot without any property. The suspect is described as black male, 6’00”, thin build, about 19 years old wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and tan boots.

On May 30, 2015 at approximately 2:45 am, New Castle County Police responded to the unit block of Martine Court in the community of Drummond Ridge in Newark for the report of a home invasion type burglary. The victim was lured out of the residence and accosted by several black male subjects, some of which had guns.

The victim and several other occupants were tied up and the suspects ransacked the house before removing several items. The victims were assaulted during this incident and sustained minor injuries. Those suspects were described as being black males, wearing black hooded sweatshirts, and masks.

On June 1st, 2015 at approximately 6:15 am, New Castle County Police responded to the unit block of Golden Acres Drive in the Riverview Place Apartments for the report of another home invasion type burglary. The victim advised that he was asleep in bed and awoke to three unknown subjects standing over him.

One of the subjects was holding a handgun and ordered him to the floor. He was then tied up by one of the subjects while the others ransacked the residence and removed items. The victim could only describe one of the suspects from this incident. He was described as a black male, approximately 6 feet tall, 170 lbs, wearing blue jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt.

The Criminal Investigations Unit is requesting anyone with information for any of these incidents to please call (302) 395-8110. Anyone with surveillance video from anywhere in the area of these residences is asked to review it for any relevant footage.
