The New Castle County Police have arrested Cuve Harding, a 43-year-old woman from the 1200 block of Old Lancaster Pike in Hockessin, for stealing a Delaware City Fire Company pick-up truck from the parking lot of county police.
On Tuesday (7/7) a Fire Board employee was advised that a Delaware City Fire Co. pick-up truck was involved in an accident at the intersection of Lancaster Pike and Centerville Road at approximately 11:00 a.m. The employee, also a member of the fire department, notified supervision that the vehicle was previously parked in the parking lot of New Castle County Police Headquarters. The stolen Delaware City Fire Department pick-up truck fled the scene of the accident.
Officers then began reviewing surveillance footage and observed Harding exit the building after being released at 8:15 a.m. She was seen attempting to open the doors to a number of vehicles in the parking lot. She located the unsecured Delaware City Fire Department truck and fled the area where she was later involved in the previously mentioned accident.
A Mounted Patrol Officer observed the stolen vehicle traveling north on DuPont Highway at approximately 2:16 p.m. and attempted to stop the vehicle. Harding then made a U-turn and turned into the parking lot of County Police Headquarters where she was stopped and taken into custody without incident.
Cuve Harding was issued citations by the Delaware State Police for the accident on Lancaster Pike and is currently pending charges for the theft of the motor vehicle.
