PIKE CREEK, Del. - County Executive Thomas P. Gordon, Council President Christopher A. Bullock, and Councilman Timothy Sheldon invited New Castle County residents and visitors to attend the Fall Sleep Under the Stars on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Carousel Park.
They were not disappointed as about 5,000 people had already registered in advance by the time attendees began arriving Saturday morning.
The Fall Sleep Under the Stars included many activities including pumpkin decorating, scarecrow making (bring your own clothing), moon bounce, sports games, photo booth, Boo Barn (all ages), Haunted Barn (ages 12+), tent-to-tent Trick-or-Treating, ‘Family Movie Under the Stars’ (Wreck it Ralph, PG) and much more. New this year was a Halloween Dance Party, a number of contests and a special guest. Contests were held for the “Best Decorated Tent”, “Best Group Costume,” “Best Scream,” and “Best Whip/Nae Nae Dance.” Participants won bragging rights and other fun prizes.
Special guest, Nadjah Nicole, contestant on NBC’s The Voice, met and greeted everyone during the Halloween Dance Party from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and then she hit the stage for a 3-song acoustic set. Several people were happy to this young, talented, local artist perform at Carousel Park.
At last year’s Fall Sleep Under the Stars over 5,000 people including families, community and youth groups such as Boy and Girl Scout Troops enjoyed the crafts, entertainment and activities in the great outdoors.
Admission to the Fall Sleep Under the Stars was free as were all activities, except for merchants and food vendors.
