NEW CASTE, Del. – The NCCTV crew assembled by County Executive Tom Gordon recently filmed its 50th episode of “Spotlight on New Castle County” at the picturesque Wilmington & Western Railroad Greenbank Station.
Show hostess Melody Kitchen, director Tony Prado, and photographer George Casson were at the railroad station to interview Ed Lipka and Mike Ciosek about their traditional Veterans Day ceremony on Saturday, November 14. As Melody says at the beginning of each episode, “You never know who we’re going to talk to or where we’re going to visit,” for this talk show featuring people, organizations, culture, and aspects of County Government.
New Castle County Television is the government access channel on Comcast Channel 22 and Verizon Channel 29. The episode marked a milestone for NCCTV, created in its present form by County Executive Gordon.
“NCCTV has come a long way from rolling bulletin boards and graphics advertising county services in boring fashion,” County Executive Gordon said. “I knew we could do so much more to fill the void of local programming, for which people were starved.”
Acting Chief Administrative Officer Samuel L. Guy, Esq., Chief of Staff James D. McDonald, and Director of Communications Tony Prado were involved with the early planning stages to make the Executive’s vision for NCCTV a reality.
“Upon his return to the county, County Executive Gordon shared his vision to improve NCCTV beyond what he inherited,” Acting CAO Guy said. “Tony Prado has provided excellent leadership while developing the NCCTV brand through quality programming.”
Chief of Staff Jim McDonald, NCCTV’s Executive Producer, led the effort to procure state-of-the-art equipment for NCCTV and has provided guidance for programming and production. He said he was proud of the way NCCTV had developed due to the team effort of the crew, including Melody Kitchen, Prado, and photographers Josue O. Ortega, Steve Burg, Lisa Lancaster, and George Casson. In addition, NCCTV has added Your County At Work with Waynna Dobson and Rob Paolo and Movie Reviews with Lisa Lancaster.
“I am proud of how far our crew has come,” Chief of Staff McDonald said. “We’ll only continue to get better.
“And don’t forget to like our county Facebook page at www.facebook.com/nccde/, where we promote all of our NCCTV programming.”
