Each piece of fabric is graced with subtle color changes and stunning contrasts as the ice melts and carries the dye into the cloth. In the second class learn how to indigo dye. The fabric first comes out of the dye bath bright green and turns to deep blue right before your eyes. Dye and choice of 1 item per day to dye is provided. Printmaking has been around since ancient times as not only an artform but also as a scientific tool to record plants for research. In printmaking, an image is created on one surface and then transferred to paper, like using a stamp or a stencil. In this class you will learn different printmaking processes, such as relief and monotype, while creating pictures of landscapes, flowers, insects and other nature themes.
